Mr. Ranjit
Kumar Chakraborty is a retired Additional Secretary to the Government of
Bangladesh.
He joined
civil service in 1983 as a member of BCS: Audit and Accounts Cadre. During his
long career, he held many important positions in the domain of public finance.
He was uniquely placed at the forefront of public financial management reforms
in Bangladesh. He worked as the Project Director of two flagship reform
projects of Finance Division namely Financial Management Reform Program (FMRP)
and Deepening MTBF and Strengthening Financial Accountability Project (DMTBF). He
also completed two consecutive terms as a director of Agrani
Bank Limited.
Mr.
Chakraboty built up his professional expertise by participating in a number of
in-country and overseas training courses on public finance, public administration
and public policy.Included among them are:a 10-week Senior Staff Course at the
Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre; a 9-month training course on
public sector audit and accounting at the Chartered Institute of Public Finance
and Accountancy (CIPFA), UK; a 1-week training course on Macroeconomics for the
Senior Managers at the Regional Training Institute of IMF, Singapore and a
6-week Managing at the Top (MATT), Stage 2 Training Program at the Institute
for Development Policy and Management (IDPM), University of Manchester, UK.
He has
travelled widely and visited countries like- India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan,
Pakistan, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia Turkey, UK, France, Belgium, USA and
Russia. He attended a number of seminars/workshops held both home and abroad.
He takes speaking engagement on issues relating to fiscal and economic
management at the premier training institutions of the country.
He did his
Masters in Accounting from the University of Dhaka. .
